FIRES IN ROHINGYA REFUGEE CAMP: URGENT CRISIS NEEDS YOUR HELP IN THIS RAMADAN

Bangladesh: 'massive' fire in Rohingya refugee camps forces more than 50,000 to flee

MARCH 22, 2021 - a huge fire broke out in the Balu Khali Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh, leaving at least 50 thousands of refugees homeless. Over 7,400 refugee shelters were damaged, and 15 death confirmed so far. Hundreds of shops, mosques, schools and service facilities were also damaged.

CURRENT SITUATION:

Officials said the fire on Monday was believed to have started in one of the 34 camps – which span about 8,000 acres (3,237 hectares) of land – before spreading to two other camps. The affected families badly need your help: for shelter materials, winter clothes, hot meals and medical care.

WHO WE ARE?

We are a registered not-for-profit organization based in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, representing members of the Rohingya community in Canada. We work with leaders from diverse communities both locally and abroad, from humanitarian organizations and governments to advocate for the cause of the Rohingya people. We promote education, healthcare and humanitarian aid alongside durable solutions for refugees and persecuted minorities.

OUR PLAN AND WHY US?
Being Rohingya, we have full access to all the camps in Bangladesh, which best enables us to handle distribution to these hard-hit areas. Our volunteers have the local knowledge and abilities to distribute relief at the right times and to the right people. We work hard to ensure your donation is used effectively for maximum impact. We currently plan to prioritize emergency relief and clothing, along with locally-sourced foods. 

For every $1 you donate, every cent of that dollar goes directly to the refugees in need. We will follow up with live updates and relevant information to highlight our progress.
